Six Easy Steps to Creating a Woodland Theme Baby Shower – Camp Cricket Style!
Having a baby is an adventure in and of itself, and woodland animals remind us of adventure in an oh-so-adorable way making for a great baby shower theme for baby girl, boy or a surprise gender. It is easy to do without having to spend a bundle of time or money to plan! Our Camp Cricket™ Collection friends are here to save the day and the décor of your woodland theme baby shower.
Six Steps to Create a Woodland Themed Baby Shower
Step One: Gather the guest list and decide on a location
Determine if you’ll need space for 5, 10, 20 or more and decide on a location. It is easy to transform a small casual living space into a woodland wonderland, but will it fit all your guests? If you are having a large party, and the season will cooperate, think about taking your party outdoors. It is of course woodland-themed, and you can save a bundle if you let nature do part of your decorating for you.
Step Two: Look in nature for FREE woodland baby shower decorations
Use fresh pine cones and pine and spruce branches if they are available to do your decorating for you. You can easily use pine cones as placeholders, dish labels and table decoration. And a few fresh sprigs of greenery or dried branches can transform an ordinary vase or mason jar into a beautiful centerpiece. If you are handy with a saw or know someone who is you can use thin slices of firewood as chargers for plates, or as stands for décor to create elevation and interest on your table. An inexpensive roll of twine and a large roll of plain brown paper from the hardware store make for perfect rustic décor, and you can easily write on the paper to make labels and cute sayings to be appreciated by the guest of honor and attendees.
Step Three: Choose gifts for baby and Mom to help you decorate
Every part of throwing a baby shower is a gift for the Mother-To-Be, but when special parts of the décor will go on to grace the nursery and become loved by little ones it leaves a lasting reminder of the love and care you gave in hosting the baby shower. A special woodland creature friend from the Camp Cricket Collection is the perfect holder for easily printable signs, or even framed décor for the nursery, that also gives a message to the shower attendees and special memories for baby. Here is one of our favorites with Foxy the Fox holding this fun printable sign:
Create a diaper cake and use loveys as the decorations. Silly Buddy pacifier holders and Bye Bye Buddy security blankets make for the perfect adornments on a diaper cake, because who doesn't love a cute woodland lovey friend! And the Bye Bye can even be personalized with a name or the date of the baby shower for an extra special keepsake.
Choose coordinating ribbon in the same hues as your favorite woodland friend, and some burlap for a rustic touch, some more pinecones around the base and a plush stuffed animal on the top and you are sure to have a centerpiece that is worthy of your carefully decorated table and a perfect accent to woodland themed nursery decor for the future.
Use the Camp Cricket Book as a decoration on the table, and write your own sweet message to baby along with the date of the baby shower. Your thoughtfulness and sweet wishes will become a part of baby’s library and reading ritual, reminding them for a lifetime the love and excitement that was felt waiting on their arrival.
Step Four: Create a fun activity or game for the guests
While there are many ideas on fun baby shower games, it is a good idea to take the tone of Mom when planning. She may prefer a low key event, that is intimate with more time to speak with the guests, or appreciate the sentiment of an activity that is geared more towards emotions, love and care. Find out what brand diaper Mom plans to use for baby and grab a box. Create a sign with directions and ask the guests to write a message or words of encouragement to mom, dad and baby on the outside of the diaper. Use permanent markers, and the diapers will still be usable. The diapers can then be remembered with love as they are used in those middle of the night diaper changes when those words of encouragement are appreciated most.
Step Five: Choose a fun take-home treat and baby shower memento for the guests
We love the idea of sending guests on their way with a little treat as a thank you for attending the baby shower. Create your own trail mix with a special touch. Use this tried and true recipe for caramel snack mix from allrecipes.com and once completely cooled add in some autumn color-themed M&M candies for a cute pop of color, sure to be loved!
Use printed bags with adorable critters, as shown, or clear plastic bags with a customized label and message to the guests. Search Pinterest for all sorts of printable tags and easy ideas.
Step Six: Finalize a woodsy-themed menu
Afternoon gatherings require just a few fun treats for the guests, but a woodland themed menu is easy to keep on theme, aesthetically appealing, delicious and feed a crowd a meal without breaking the bank on time or money. Small little sandwiches on a tiered tray, veggies in the shape of trees, fresh berries and a cheeseboard will keep your guests satisfied, your table photo-worthy, and leave you time to mingle with the guests. Easy ready-made drinks with fun labels will keep your party on theme, without a whole lot of preparation or trouble.
Serve bottles of water and wine in galvanized steel beverage tubs to keep with the rustic look and feel of the party, and easily keep them cold and accessible for guests.
